Usefulness of Research

Over the years, we have seen many examples of rigorous research - involving considerable expense and produced by thoughtful and experienced teams - wind up as a doorstop. Research often fails to meet its objectives not because it was ill-conceived or poorly conducted, but rather because of the assumption that when presented with high quality information, people will see its value and use it. This is often not the case.

We believe that consideration of how research will be actually used by its consumers, from instrument development through presentation of results, is critical to obtaining true benefits from research efforts.
